Kamahl Santamaria

Kamahl Santamaria is news anchor for Al Jazeera English. He presents Al Jazeera's hour-long news program, Newshour live from Doha, Qatar. He also hosts the program on Al Jazeera English titled "Counting the Cost" which focuses on Economics.

Kamahl was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, and began his journalistic career in the year of 1998 as a news and sports reporter for TV3 in New Zealand.

In 2001 he covered Atlantic Rowing Race. On the way to Barbados, where the event was finished, he landed at New York's JKF Airport after American Airlines Flight 587 crashed in Queens. He was the only reporter from New Zealand or Australia who reported home at this event.

After working on TV3's flagship nightly news show "3 News", he moved to Australia where he established and ran Sky News Australia's Melbourne bureau. He also appeared on the Sky Business report as a business correspondent and presenter. [1] He was a reporter, presenter and producer of Sky Business Report with David Koch before he moved to New York and London. In 2006, he became a news presenter in Doha for Al Jazeera English.
